We learn that after seeing Shelley and Patrice Stacey goes to her father’s home in Shoreditch where she stays the night. After seeing Patrice with Shelley another girl from school who is very popular and doesn’t really like Stacey she knows she can’t go to Patrice’s home and she doesn’t want to go home. Stacey is quite timid and gets very angry when her mother lets Jodie into her room and even angrier when Jodie taunts her about wanting a career in fashion so Stacey leaves to spend the night at Patrice’s house. While the rape isn’t even out in the book we can see how it immediately affects Stacey.Īs we cross the 1/4 mark in the novel we see that Stacey’s life before the rape wasn’t great, her younger sister Jodie had gotten pregnant at 14 and mother sympathies with Jodie and grants her every whim. Eventually Patrice comes around and she is stunned when she learns what happened to Stacey.

When she returns home she can’t talk to her mom or her sister Jodie (I love seeing my name in books) but she wants to talk to her best friend Patrice but she is ignored. The opening to No Virgin was brutal to say the least, we meet Stacey Woods after she has been missing for 3 days in which she was raped. If you aren’t comfortable with these themes don’t read on. Review: I did know a little about this book before going into it like it was the story of one girl’s sexual assault which is very common in real life and has devastating effects on the victims and their families.
